Both options provide excellent light control and privacy, but the right choice depends on your specific room conditions.
Made from composite or polymer materials designed to replicate the look of real wood with superior durability.
Crafted from basswood or hardwoods, offering natural grain patterns and a traditional, high-end aesthetic.
Humidity matters. Faux wood blinds resist warping, swelling, and cracking in high-moisture areas like: Bathrooms, Kitchens, and Laundry rooms.
We’ve replaced real wood blinds in bathrooms that bowed within a few years due to steam exposure. Faux wood holds its shape and maintains performance.
For most homes in Southeast Texas, faux wood offers the best balance of durability, appearance, and cost.
Retail blinds come in standard sizes, but most windows are not standard. We measure each window individually to ensure proper fit, minimal light gaps, and smooth operation.
Slat Sizes
2″ for smaller openings or 2.5″ for a shutter-like look on large windows.
Control Systems
Choose from standard cords, cordless systems for child safety, or motorized options.
Mounting Options
Inside mount for a clean built-in look, or outside mount for shallow frames and max light blocking.
Energy Efficiency
Closing blinds during peak sun hours can noticeably reduce heat gain in west-facing windows.

Wood and faux wood blinds look almost the same from across the room, but they behave very differently in a Houston home. Real wood blinds are lighter and bring a warm, natural grain that works well in living rooms, dining rooms, and offices. Faux wood blinds are made from composite or vinyl, so they shrug off moisture and steam. That makes them the better pick for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and any window that gets condensation on humid mornings.
A lot of our Houston customers mix the two. They put real wood in the main living spaces and faux wood in the wet rooms, with matching colors and slat sizes so the house still looks consistent from the street. If you want a more solid, permanent look, compare them with our plantation shutters.
Tilted up, the slats send daylight toward the ceiling while keeping the room private. Closed tight, they cut glare on TVs and computer screens and block a good share of the afternoon heat coming through west facing glass. Two and a half inch slats give a clearer view when open, while two inch slats suit smaller windows. Cordless lift systems are available on most styles, which keeps cords out of reach of kids and pets. For a simpler fabric option, see our roller shades.
Store bought blinds often leave gaps at the edges or hang crooked because Houston windows are rarely a standard size. We measure each window in person and order blinds cut to fit, then handle the blind installation with mounts that suit your frames, inside or outside. Replacing old, broken, or faded blinds? Our blind replacement service covers that too. We serve homeowners in Houston, Friendswood, Pearland, League City, and Clear Lake. Book a free in-home estimate to compare samples in your own light.
